![]() its not out for our cars yet but comptech is working on it. this is pic of there icebox for a diff car. doesnt gain as much as other intakes but its a good option if you want to avoid heat soak. it draws air from the same area as CAI and the filter is located in the engine bay. no idea is new remember it just gets rethought after a while. |

Well, true, but a "new" idea would be a high-flow air filter on both ends with high-flow plumbing - heat soak, maybe...but between the CAI's "colder" air and the "heat-soaked" warmer air from the SRI, the combination would have to produce a median air temperature which would be a) warmer than the CAI alone, but b) cooler than the SRI alone. Right? I mean, I'm no physics expert, but isn't that the point of the stock system now? It's just restrictive with the plumbing and the filters, but the concept of a median cooler temperature must be the point of making a Y-connected air intake system.
And that picture doesn't look anything like a Y-connected filter system. It looks like the stock air box in the engine compartment? |

it does connect draw its air from below its just not showing everything. and your saying run 2 air filters? lol im sorry but if thats what your saying its 1. poitnless. and 2. going to reduce hp from restriction.
to sum it up the ice box is basically run the way the stock system is. only larger less restricted plastic piping for much less heat soak then after market aluminum systems. its exactly what your looking for when you describe what you want. but its not out yet ![]() enclosing the filter is also a way to shield it from the engine. unless you wanted to replace the lower box completly. but if i remember correctly comptech connects the ice box to the factory lower box. |

Bud, there are two air filters in the STOCK system now, fact. The cold air box in your bumper has a filter in it, draws air in, then plumbs it up to the engine air box, which has a filter in it - I disconnected it all myself when I installed my SRI, so I know this is the case. What is the point of having this system if not to draw a lower median temperature using air from the bumper air box and the engine air box? Am I missing something here? It wouldn't surprise me, just clear it up if I am. :)
I do see what you're saying about the icebox, but can the icebox produce the same gains as even an SRI system alone with heat soak. Maybe? Maybe not? We don't know because it's not out yet, so we'll have to see. :) Either way, I was just saying that there must be an engineer out there who could combine the CAI and SRI aftermarket air intake models into one combination model, which would produce a median cooler air temperature by allowing air to flow from down in the bumper, unrestricted, and combine it with the engine air box, unrestricted. This Icebox seems to ONLY deal with the upper engine air box, which is only half the battle, in my opinion. |

i see what your lookin for. we'll just have to wait and see.
the comptech has a connection on the bottom to connect to your lower factory cold air box if i remember correctly so it draws air from the lower box but has the filter enclosed in the engine bay thats why i thought its what you wanted. its like stock almost except its larger piping on top like a short ram and has a cone filter only its enclosed. |

My friend with the Injen CAI for the TSX says that his CAI could've also been installed as an SRI if he wanted too. Is this also possible with the 06+ Si CAI? I have the CAI, but it's still New in Box, just in case I change my mind on it. I am weary about installing........ |

Well, we'll see just how much heat soak an SRI takes on because I'll be at a dyno next week getting six total "pulls". I have the Fujita F5 SRI already installed, so the first three pulls on the dyno will be with that installed so we can get a baseline. I'll post the WHP and torque gains over stock. Then, they're installing my Ingalls "Stiffy" torque dampener and my new Skunk2 70mm Mega Power R cat back exhaust - they'll be hooking it up to the dyno again for another three pulls to see what the total power gains are with the exhaust. So, those final numbers will be with three products installed:
1.) Ingalls Stiffy torque dampener 2.) Fujita F5 SRI - claims are between 9 and 11 whp over stock air intake (no aftermarket exhaust) 3.) Skunk2 Mega Power R cat back exhaust system - claims are between 5 and 7 whp over stock with NO intake installed, just replacing the stock exhaust. The import tuning shop I'm taking this to believes I will see between 18 and 24 whp gains over stock with these mods. I'll be taking pictures and will have video documentation, along with the official numbers from the shop. Skunk and Corsport USA are interested in getting these numbers from me, so stay tuned! If I get good video, I'll post on YouTube and let all of you know. |

How come noone ever talk about, or has any knowledge, or dyno charts / afr charts of the AEM SHORT RAM INTAKE?
Maybe ive missed it, but some help would be great.
