And as some supplemental information, this stuff was posted on the TSX forums a few days ago so I decided to copy and paste it here for you guys.

The Acura TSX and new Honda Civic SI use THE SAME CRANK AND ALTERNATOR PULLEYS so these pics and info will be applicable to the K20 in the Civic SI.

Long story short, I found out my old buddy Mike from http://www.NonStopTuning.com was in the process of building some new pulleys for the TSX and offered my car for testing. From the NST website...

The NST Acura TSX pulley kit increases horsepower via great weight reduction and the underdriving of accessories. Superior to other available kits, NST kits also offer an Overdrive Alternator Pulley to optimize output for stereo system lovers!

^^ This is really a plus for people like me who want to add a nice audio/video system in the future, because the NST alternator pulley will charge the battery and run the electrical system just like the stock setup!!!

Each kit is carefully crafted from 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum, tested and balanced to high tolerances. Every NST pulley is hard anodized for exceptional durability and is available in a choice of colors: Red, Blue, or Graphite Gray.

Those torque numbers look pretty good for a pulley set, and the dyno looks particularly interesting before VTEC engagement, where most people will use the power.

Thank you for the kind welcome. I've actually been on these forums for a while, I just do not post too often. And yes, these numbers look very good, especially the torque numbers.

I have used NST pulleys for a while now on several different cars and I could not be any happier. Their quality, customer service, and price are second to none.

The only "bad" thing is that that crank pulley does not have a hermonic balancer like the stock one to take vibrations and other problems that could do damage...But im interested in a k20 or even better r18 dyno with these. thanks!

The BAD is over 90% myth, internet heresay, and based on problems that ricers have who have no business trying to modify a car.

The GOOD is in the dynos and is pretty obvious. Better throttle response, more HP, more TQ, great bang for buck, and even better gas mileage.


People who have done their homework properly to select a good pulley kit for their cars have been successful with kits like these since the muscle car era.

This is someone else's car. Someone posted this info on some of the TSX forums and I copy and pasted this information.

And I would try to explain to you why the NST would be better than UR or AEM but then I would get bashed and thrown on a cross for being a fan boy. There are people on these forums who like to sell the UR kit because they profit from selling it and do not like people posting about other pulley kits.

8civic....how hard was it to take the crank bolt out??? did you lock the flywheel up or did you do the two man deal and put the tranny in 6th and step on the brakes???

As far as I know must modern engines doesn't use harmonic balancers.

Im sure nobody here truly knows if our engine used unless is an engineer of Honda.

Im inclined that the K20 doesn't use it.

Just to clarify again, the pics I posted are NOT of my car. This info was posted on some TSX forums and I copy and pasted it here because it is very similar to the installation on the new Civic SI.


I own an R18 Civic and I have NST pulleys on that. I did the installation with an air gun which makes it much easier. This would be the easiest and fastest way.

I have also had some friends with older civics and I have seen them use the flywheel lock up trick. This works but takes a bit longer and requires a few curse words

well on the r18 when you take off teh crank pulley what method did you use for it??? did you lock the flywheel up to prevent it from moving or did you put in 5th/6th to lock it up ???

so you did not lock the crank up to prevent it from moving is what you are saying...reason i ask is that on my old b18c5...i had to lock the crank up ...i had to use a 30" long breaker w/ ext to bust it loose...not even my 800ft/lb impact gun could move it

I'm not sure dude... your 800ft/lb impact gun should definitely be able to do the job. It should be much more capable than a breaker bar.

I just put the car in gear and used an air gun/impact gun and the crank bolt just came right off. It wasn't very difficult at all with the gun.
