And thanks for the info, Tomasro. It basically comes down to lack of room in the housing for the projector itself to move. A smaller projector would probably have a better chance, but I already bought TSX projectors and I don't feel like dumping more money for another set. Webby said he has some ideas though, so I'm anxious to see what that's about.

How about if all of us help you by donating some $$. I'd love to see this project done, so I'm down to donate a couple $. If everyone helps out, you should be able to raise a couple hundred bucks. Can you tell us roughly how much do you need to finish this project?

Well, at this point, I think I have my mind set on a TSX retrofit for the Si when it comes. However, if someone wants me to work on this for them, I'm up for that. You'd just have to supply me with housings and projectors and I could make the modifications. I already have the motors and the electronics as well, but you'd have to integrate them into the car and calibrate the system.
The other problem is I recently discovered that this project will only work with DX-G and Si's because they're the only ones with electronic power steering (all others are hydraulic). The EPS signal is required by the controller to tell the motors where to move.

^ I'm not trying to offer solutions or shoot this down.... I'm just throwing out points that I know will be issues to overcome.

As far as what projectors to use, I think striker or caveman are the ones to ask.

How much would it cost to go from stockies to the v2. Is there a way you would do it for some one?

Adaptives.... not sure I even have time for it at this point unfortunately. Since I moved to Honda, it's like the days have gotten way shorter.
I can still help you out though if you want to tackle it.

Cost would probably be $100-150 over a standard retrofit. There's only two motors plus some cheap electronics and wiring. Making it work is the problem..... my big fail was using TSX projectors. They're just too damn big to be able to move in the housing. A projector with less "bulk" around the lens (radially) would work far better.

hmmmm i might go the regular retro route. but nice to see that this option is available. i may have missed this but you don't have the v2 complete yet do you? and if ya do is that a vid showing what they look at night when the turn?

^ Yeah I gave up on this project a while ago... there just wasn't a way to do this and actually have them work reliably. I ended up doing a quad retro instead

i just stumbled upon this thread and thought it was quite amazing.
if i get the money and time this might be fun to do for a side project
teach myself some programming and transfer stuff im learning in class to the electronics =P

I realize this is an old thread, but do you guys think it would be possible to use an accelerometer instead of using the electrical signal from the steering assembly?

I believe OEM systems use something to that effect, except I think they use a solid-state gyro to sense "yaw rate", but they also monitor the steering position as well. Not sure why the two similar signal types.....
But to answer your question, I don't see any reason why that wouldn't work, except in a case where you'd get the lateral acceleration without a lot of "turning" i.e. changing lanes, but that could be fixed through programming.
