3rd gear issues

I know there are a lot of discussion among the issue of 3rd gear either popping out, griding, or being notchy. As for those who have voiced their opinion on this issue I find myself faced with the same problem while driving my SI

I would like to know if anyone that has taken their Si to a dealership in Northern VA or in the Richmond metro area because of 3rd gear issue, what was outcome/result of the visit at the service department.

Thanks for your help

sorry, i just went ahead and changed the fluid a fully synthetic. It has seemed to fixed the problem for now. I would recommend taking it to Honda of Tysons corner. they generally have pretty good service there.

I was havng a few issues with my 3rd gear as well, especially when it was cold or on my first few miles of driving. I recently changed the tranny oil to GM Syncromesh FM and it now shifts like a hot knife through butter. Not one problem with third since.

has anyone taken there car to the dealership for shifting in 3rd gear. My third gear pops out all the time. Today while driving to the party store, which is less than 5 minutes away it poped out twice. I grinded the first time, the second time I took my foot off the gas and re-shifted.
I can't just live with the 3rd gear malfunctioning, grinding for 6 years will cause some serious tranny problems.

I'm just wondering if honda can do anything to fix this problem?

I've just started having problems with 2nd. But only when the car is cold. I have never had a problem with third. I have a 07. Do you guys have 06's?

I have an '07 and the 3rd gear problem DRIVES ME F*@#$# crazy! It feels like it pops right in... I let off the clutch and give it gas and REVVVVVV. I can't take it for much longer, I'm gonna end up punching the shifter off.

seriously guys....change the transmission fluid to a fully synthetic and all your problems will disappear. I had the same issues with my 06 SI. Changed to Amsoil Synthetic Manual Synchromesh and no more problems. I haven't had 3rd gear pop out even 1 time since the change. It used to piss me off too because it was almost a daily issue.
